中国外语与教育研究中心

　　中国外语与教育研究中心所依托的北京外国语大学，是我国开办历史最长、开设语种最多的外语大学，设有我国第一批外国语言文学博士点和第一个博士后流动站，师资力量雄厚，学术成果丰富。2000年3月，北外以外国语言研究所为基础，吸收英语系等院系的科研力量，组建了本中心。同年9月，中心被教育部正式批准为“普通高等学校人文社会科学重点研究基地”。

　　中心以中国外语教育理论与实践创新研究、汉外语言对比及外语学习者语言研究、大数据视野下的外语及外语学习研究、外语教育政策研究为基础研究方向。中心的主要任务是：1)承担重大科研项目，产出重要研究成果;2)培养高级研究人才，造就创新学术梯队;3)提供政策理论咨询，推动国内外学术交流。

　　中心现有专职研究员13名，科研辅助人员6名。此外，中心设有外国语言学及应用语言学、 语言政策与规划学、外语教育学三个二级学科博士点、硕士点，是我国高级外语研究人才的重要培养基地。

　　中心已发展成以科研为主、人才培养为辅的科研教学型实体。成立至今，中心获批课题超100项，发表论文、撰写咨询报告和出版专著超1000篇/部。

　　Introduction to the National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education

　　The National Research Centre for Foreign Language Education at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) was founded in 2000. The Centre stands as a leading research hub in the humanities and social sciences under the auspices of the Ministry of Education. Boasting a committed team of 12 full-time researchers, the Centre serves as the linchpin for BFSU’s 45th position in the QS World University Rankings by Subject: Linguistics for 2023.

　　The Centre concentrates its research on foreign language education, theoretical linguistics, corpus linguistics, and language policy and planning. Its pivotal roles include: 1) Heading major research initiatives and delivering impactful academic, social and community outcomes; 2) Nurturing top-tier research talent and fostering a groundbreaking academic ensemble; 3) Offering policy advice and bolstering both national and global academic dialogue.

　　Since its inception, the Centre has either completed or is currently conducting more than 100 research projects, of which over 30 are of national significance (including four Major Projects of Social Science Fund of China). The Centre has been recognised with numerous awards for exemplary accomplishments in humanities and social sciences, granted by the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Government. Members of its faculty have authored in excess of 1,000 research papers, policy dossiers, monographs and edited volumes. They have also curated over 100 national or international scholarly symposiums and welcome scores of domestic and overseas specialists annually.

　　The Centre provides both Ph.D. and Master’s courses in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Language Policy and Planning, Foreign Language Education Studies, standing as a critical pillar in nurturing China's elite foreign language scholars. It also routinely welcomes visiting academics, domestic exchange students, and international students. The Centre offers a rich tapestry of avant-garde courses and programmes. Numerous alumni have received distinguished doctoral/master’s dissertation commendations from the university, and a handful of doctoral candidates have secured national accolades for outstanding Ph.D. dissertations.

　　The Centre publishes three journals included in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI): Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Foreign Language Education in China, and Journal of Language Policy and Language Planning. Its faculty also helm journals such as the Chinese Journal of Applied Linguistics (De Gruyter), Corpus Linguistics, English Learning (Teachers' Edition), Journal of World Languages, and World Language Strategy Bulletin.
